Bloomfield Township has a number of volunteer Boards and Committees to serve our community. Citizen involvement in local affairs is essential in keeping our Township responsive to the needs of its residents. Committees meet on a monthly, quarterly or as needed basis as noted in the Board/Committee descriptions.
Design Review Board
The Design Review Board reviews all exterior changes for commercial properties and new residential developments, prior to the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals as necessary.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission serves as a recommending board. Upon their review of varied submittals, ie: commercial site plans, zoning ordinance amendments and residential developments, recommendations are forwarded to the Township Board of Trustees for final approval or denial.

Zoning Board of Appeals
In accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 42, appeals from the strict applications of the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance may be made to the Zoning Board of Appeals upon finding the standards of practical difficulty or hardship have been met.

Lake Boards
Under the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (Public Act 451 of 1994, Part 309, Inland Lake Improvements), lake board membership includes representatives from the following entities: Bloomfield Township, two designees; Oakland County Board of Commissioners; Oakland County Water Resource Commissioner’s Office; and a riparian land owner, appointed by the lake board, who owns land abutting the lake. Lake improvement boards have been established to address relevant lake improvement issues, including the oversight of aquatic weed control programs, nuisance control, water quality improvements and other educational activities.
Lake Board Meetings are held on an "as needed" basis.

Road Advisory Committee
The Road Advisory Committee of Bloomfield Township is a volunteer group committed to supporting the community by reviewing current road conditions, identifying problem areas, discussing practical solutions for improvement and researching methods of promoting self-autonomy of local roads. The committee works to explore feasible repair and maintenance strategies, research legislative funding opportunities, and develop creative, cost-effective recommendations. Acting in an advisory role, they will assist the Board of Trustees in making informed decisions about road-related needs and priorities.
The Road Advisory Committee meets every other Tuesday at 4:30 PM in Township Hall Auditorium.
